it’s about being there for your neighbors and your community…

Our family has called western Greene County home for nearly 40 years. We love the mountains, we love the people. What we didn’t love was having to drive 15 miles to get a good sandwich. So one evening in the Spring of 2018, while driving through Dyke, a “For Sale” sign on the old Dyke Store caught our eye.

This is our community, our home. We raise our kids here. We build our dreams here. We harvest our hay in the summer and we tend our cattle in the winter, just like our neighbors. Just like the generations before.

In the day and age of Wal-Mart, chain restaurants and cookie-cutter convenience stores, the family-owned corner market is a rare and special breed. In our opinion, it is time such a place makes a comeback.

So now, we set about building something we can all be proud of. Something that reflects everything that’s special about our home and our history. It will be a family adventure, a desire to create something new and refreshing that also feels comfortable and timeless.

We hope you’ll join us! -Todd, Katie, Colbie, Evan, and Avery Sansom.

The community of Dyke, Va has a long and proud history. The land is rugged, beautiful and full of heritage. The people of the area are hard-working and family focused. It is a community that deserves a centerpiece, focal point representative of it's character. A place that meets the daily needs of the people while showcasing all the things that make the area special. Maybelle's is that place. Owned and operated by the Sansom Family, who has called Greene County home for nearly forty years, this new store will have deep roots from day one.

Maybelle's has all the essentials of a community store, such as modern, efficient gas and diesel pumps, an extensive selection of convenience store staples, food and drinks, and beer and tobacco products. What sets Maybelle's apart however, will be the food. This is not "gas station" fare. Maybelle's features the cutting edge in food preparation. The mornings feature everything from made-to-order eggs, biscuits, bacon and hash browns to donuts and pastries, along with Coffee. For lunch and dinner Maybelle's has a variety of options, from Boar’s Head deli sandwiches to burgers, pizzas, ribs and sides, as well as seasonal options such as chili and soups.

When the fans attending the big game at the Blue Ridge School need a spot for supper, there's Maybelle's. When the patrons of the local wineries need a sandwich and a fill-up, there's Maybelle's. When it's a Monday and the construction crew need their pic-me-up, there's Maybelle's. And when it's dinnertime and mom and dad are both spent from a long workday, there's Maybelle's.

Finally, a place for western Greene County to gather and be proud of. Locally built, owned and operated.
